Larry J. Crabb, PhD

Dr. Larry J. Crabb is the Founder and Director of NewWay Ministries and the Distinguished Scholar in Residence for Colorado Christian University. He received his B.S. from Ursinus College and an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.

Renowned for being one of the leading Christian psychologists and authors in the world today, Dr. Crabb’s illustrious career in academia has spanned more than four decades. Currently he is the Distinguished Scholar in Residence for Colorado Christian University, a position he has held since 1996. He previously served as the Chairman and Professor of that school’s Graduate Department of Biblical Counseling (1989–1996). He is also currently a Visiting Professor at Richmont University in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to joining the faculty at Colorado Christian University, Dr. Crabb was the Chairman and Professor of Grace Theological Seminary’s Department for Biblical Counseling (1982–1989) and an Assistant Professor and the Director of the Psychological Counseling Center for Florida Atlantic University (1971–1973). He has also been an Adjunct Professor in Applied Theology at Regent College in Vancouver, Canada (1998–1999) and an Assistant Professor in Psychology at the University of Illinois. Moreover, Dr. Crabb trains leaders through the various transformational seminars he gives at schools, churches, and other venues around the globe.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Crabb ministers as a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Colorado. He has operated his own private Christian practice for years including the time he spent in Boca Raton, Florida, from 1973–1982. He is the Spiritual Director for the American Association of Christian Counselors and is a member of the Christian Association of Psychological Studies. Furthermore, Dr. Crabb is the Founder and Director of NewWay Ministries, a Christian organization focused on spiritual formation and helping Christians to grow, think, and relate in Spirit-filled, Christlike relationships.

Dr. Crabb is an award-winning writer who has penned more than 40 books. Among his numerous publications are Connecting: Healing for Ourselves and Our Relationships, The PAPA Prayer: The Prayer You’ve Never Prayed, Effective Biblical Counseling, Finding God, and SoulTalk: The Language God Longs for Us to Speak. His works Inside Out and Understanding People both garnered Gold Medallion Awards from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association.
